Have a Blessed New Year 2006 …

Hello to all of our friends … Our Annual New Year’s letter!

My where has this last year 2005 gone!?!

KatieRose and I came out here to Hampton Roads, VA in 2004 for a New Year’s Party and the next thing you know its 2006!! … it must be time to move on!!!

In reviewing the eventful things that happened in 2005, all that’s really worth recalling is that KatieRose got her Real Estate License, I struggled to get compensated properly for the work I was doing at AMSEC and we went to Hawaii for the first Anniversary of our Sealing and have our long overdue honeymoon, coupled with our 4^th wedding celebration!! After that everything else seems like life’s boring details!

Along about KatieRose’s birthday in July she got really homesick for Hawaii. I guess it really started with the movie “50 First Dates”, which was shot in Hawaii. KatieRose recognized many of those spots where she used to visit regularly and it just built from there. She bought the DVD and when I found out that she was watching all or parts of it several times a day for several weeks or so, I said, “Why don’t you find us an affordable flight and a place to stay and we’ll go there for our vacation in October?”

Well, KatieRose used all of her skills as a travel agent and knowledge of Oahu to plan and create a great and wonderful Hawaii event for us. The trip turned into our going there to investigate the possibilities to perhaps move there! So I started sending resumes to various companies and making contacts.

The trip was fantastic in every way!! We rented a place through KatieRose’s long time friend and I had many more interviews than I had here in VA in the last 8 months!! We also did make time to enjoy the beauty and magnificence of Oahu with a trip to the Temple on our Sealing anniversary, the Polynesian Cultural Center, many beaches and a ride around the North Shore all of which was just wonderful!!

So on our return on October 24^th, we were faced with the decision of when do we move to Hawaii!! After fasting and praying about when should we make this move; the Lord gave us the answer on November 7^th, when I was reclassified to part-time status. So it became clear that this was the window for us to move from here, where we weren’t really satisfied, to Hawaii for the next phase of our senior adventure!!

We will be hitching up the trailer on January 9^th and driving to our storage unit in Utah to swap our stuff and then driving onto San Francisco to have our car shipped and fly out of Oakland, CA on the 24^th!!

We are working on ‘living simply’, ‘giving more’ and ‘expecting less’, in addition to the standards; following the teachings of JESUS CHRIST, rejecting evil, persevering to the end and returning home with honor to achieve exaltation!! That’s the process of this life as we are endeavoring to live it.
